Yes really, there is such a thing. And you’ll have the
chance to try it on Wednesday 24th October at
i-on’s latest reader event. We’ve teamed up with Southside’s
bar of the moment for a night of drinks, dinners and sharing platters that’ll
make you glad you bought a ticket.
The event’s being held at St Andrews Brewing Co. Potterrow
(that’s near Summerhall and the Udderbelly festival spot on Bristo Square in
case you’re not sure), a new generation of bar serving the best Scottish beer,
gin and whiskies and a menu that celebrates local produce. On the night, for
the very reasonable price of £20 per person, you’ll get canapes and a welcome
gin aperitif made from St Andrews Gin Co, before sitting down to a sharing
platter AND main course of your choice, washed down by a Brewco beer flight.
And that’s where you have the chance to sample Scottish street food possibly
for the first time in your life… Tweed Kettle . For people living in Edinburgh
in the 1800s, Tweed Kettle would have been a staple, cheap and nutritious wild
salmon dish made with foraged ingredients. St Andrews Brewing Co. Potterrow’s
chef James Sherriff serves up a current and refined version using
sustainable sea trout, lovage and sorrel, cream, chanterelles and peas and
it’s knock-your-socks-off good, comfort food for a night in October. We
know what we’ll be having.
WHEN: Wednesday 24 October, 6.30-9.30pm
WHAT: Drinks, canapes and a sharing platter, followed by a preordered, seated main course and a flight of beer.
PRICE: £19.95 (usual cost £39.75)
